Dear Bloggers,

It is a privilege to be able to address you in person about our Paint Your Blog Pink Competition in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness and Breast Cancer October 2009.

This year Wijaya International Medical Centre is again collaborating with Pink Ribbon Deeds, better known as PRIDE to bring you Paint Your Blog Pink 2! The only thing that has changed is our theme for this year, “Minutes for A Lifetime”.

Wijaya International Medical Centre are proud like to involve the Malaysian Bloggosphere to deliver their insights on the matter of Breast Cancer awareness and detection. Their commitment to healthcare is not only towards the treatment of cancer but more importantly, the a few minutes of clinical breast exam or a mammography each year makes will make that significant difference in your life and / or the lives of your loved ones.

Minutes For A Lifetime: A Breast Cancer Awareness Project

Part of why I love my job is being able to formulate my own way to give back to the community. Especially for two subjects I am so particularly fond of: Oncology and Women.

I feel alleviating pride to be the programme coordinator for my latest endeavor to bring a bigger awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2009 for the place I work for.

This year's theme is "Minutes for A Lifetime" shifting towards the importance of not only being on a socially aware level but also on a personal level. Every few minutes each year to do that routine Clinical Breast Exam or Mammogram has that potential to change your entire lifetime.

Often, we fail to see how Cancer is more than just a disease that affects your physical vessel. That's why I've coordinated a series of events and competitions dedicated to change the way you see life in that short span of time.

My personal mission from this is to at the end of the day, to deliver the message of being personally and socially Breast Aware in powerful, impacting and lasting impressions

Kitschy Relay for Life 2009

I can't stop smiling silly (even with this mudder fishcake of a backache) because thanks to Cheryl and the Phil, some people at National Cancer Society Malaysia and members of the Philharmonic Society of Selangor will be sporting these fine ribbons handmade by yours truly.

These 100% handmade ribbons are made from ecospun felt, and ribbon prints are each a unique piece of art. If you'd like to sport a ribbon, contact me and I will donate profits from these ribbons to NCSM in aid of cancer victims and cancer survivors

Relay For Life this year will be held on the 30th of May, at the sports training stadium in Bukit Jalil.

Life’s End Probability

We often fail to look past that successful period in our lives. We don't want to see this happen to us.

Natural proclivity I assume, we don't like to look at the drops (our society does not encourage taboo subjects).

My drop in at a nearby nursing home reminded me on how religiously my parents used to tell me and my sister of their greatest life fear.

"You will NEVER leave us in a nursing home"

Which me and Ashley won't let you set foot in one, mom and dad (mom who reads this probably will get paranoid)

As I looked upon those who look like they've developed permeating bed sores and deeply rooted backaches.

I watched an old lady wake up from her afternoon nap only to be bitterly reminded by the sight of her amputated foot. She tells me that as she was recovering on that foot she rolls over the side of her bed and hurts her thigh on the other leg.

I try to comfort her by telling her not to think too much while her visiting relative adamantly agrees with me in the most distressing tone of voice, "Yes tell her that she really thinks too much."

A sit down session with some of my nurses who were with me later and I hear their worries on how one day, perhaps, their own child will abandon them this way too. The unmarried, older single ones get worried and count their yet earned life savings on how much it will take to survive this way and the better way.

The colleague closests to me says, she hopes to just pass with her eyes closed without having to set up house with just a table next to a patchwork bed.

It's no longer filial peity, but about how much you really love them...enough that you won't leave them here.

Would you ever leave your parents this way? Would you want to be this way? Are you preventing or just accepting your life to somehow flow to a nursing home?

I hope I have good kids. Probably so.

Welcome 2008!

It's 2008!
Three hours left until the first day of the new year comes to an end in the Malaysian Time Zone. And I've spent the first few hours stoning away, partying and just recovering from the after-'syiok'
To much of my horror and surprise. I still have so much backlog events, to-dos, and god knows what to settle in the early of the year. The last few weeks of 2007 have just been abit too much for me to handle. The excitement, the sweeping changes, and adjustments that I had (and still, have) to make for myself and the people around me.
Asides from the fact that 2008 would mark my coming of age to being two dozen years old (which I am somehow not looking forward to) I ~~HAVE SO MANY THINGS AT THE TOP OF MY HEAD AND A POST IT NOTE OF THINGS TO DO A MILE LONG!~~ have some devoirs and duties that I need to settle and new commitments that I'm glad to be a part of.
But right now, I've got to clean out my desk, tear down unnecessary idol posters of my younger days from the walls, set a personal cup and coaster on my desk so I'll drink more water, count how many pairs of high heels that need to be fixed and set a budget for it, write for practical charm, clear out dried up pens and nail polishes that are just doing more than collecting dust, recycle tonnes of used papers, wash bags that have not been used for ages and make good use of them, sort out the plastic and paper bags in the room, get rid of all the unnecessary casings and boxes, throw away bras with crappy padding and replace the current underwear drawer with a better one, wash every corner of where wall meets floor because my maid is a complete imbecile, attempt to fix my PS2, plan to get my Bah Kut Teh fix, sort out and recategorize my accessory collection, order new bust free bras, cook Lainey-cinno a chocolate mousse cake, write thank you notes, plan for my first trip overseas with girlfriends, save up for that trip to Turkey in 2009, Remind myself everyday to train for the next two Marathons for this year, pay up for hosting, open a new bank account, make sure that..... I just have alot to do.

My resolutions have just evolved into a to-do list. If there is a God....God help me.
Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Machine-made Love Bites

Now who'd ever think that performing ECG for demonstration using yourself as a model could leave such obvious markings?

Don't worry, it doesn't hurt AT ALL. For physical impressions sake, thank goodness all ECG leads are performed in the middle intercostal spaces of the ribs (spacing between rib bones) or else people will be branding them all over their clavicles.. like I did.

It wasn't fun too, getting all those weird stares that seem to shout "AIYOH THIS WOMAN GOT LOVEBITE BUT NEVER COVER UP!"

Note to self, don't give myself machine made lovebites again.
