There's actually a lower and upper cap calculation as well (just shift the modifier). So while a 18 year old can date another person from 16 to 22. A much older person of 30 has a range of 22 to 40+. Another easy rule of thumb is -4/+7 for people in their mid twenties. As a person grows older, the range increases slightly, then shifts downwards (there's a curve somewhere if you plot it right). 25 years old -> -4/+7 30 years old -> -7/+10 50 years old -> -22/+5 The trend is as such that its rarely desirable to date someone much older than you when you're in your forties and fifties (shorter lifespans).
